How is it December 2nd already? Not sure, but here we go, with all the holiday fun and preparation for the new year. I hope all of my American friends had a really sweet Thanksgiving. We did. We went to my daughter's school to eat with some other families, and then the next day, Jeff and I felt inspired to cook a traditional feast and invite some neighbors to come over at the last minute. We had five guests and a really wonderful time.
I am just now wrapping up the end of my school term, which has taken a lot out of me in the last couple of months. I can't wait to be done! In spite of the heavy work load and extra measure of stress, we have had some fun times this month.
I am so glad we got to do some tromping through the woods, because all the leaves have fallen from the trees around us. We visited the Ickworth House several times, which has provided lots of fodder for posts this week. Somehow, we had like eight various handymen/ skilled workers visit and fix things over here this month, and I had plenty of opportunity to figure out all of the etiquette surrounding tea service for workers. (Thank you to all the UK readers who helped me out!!) And I spent lots of time in the kitchen. I posted recipes this month for Woodland Venison Stew and Wintry Oxtail Glazed with Red Wine, Orange, and Rosemary (if you tried either recipe, I'd love to hear how it came out!) I also did a guest post that you might want to check out at a friend's blog-- Celeriac: The Weird and Wonderful Winter Vegetable.
Here are a few links that made me smile or think this month:
Getting Away:
Here's a dream vacation: Glamping at Chaffin Orchards-- doesn't that look wonderful? Take note, California friends!
In the Kitchen:
In case you saved your turkey bones but are wondering what to do with them now... Jenna explains using turkey bones to make soup.
I found two incredible-chocolate desserts I'm going to see if I can get Jeff to make me: French Silk Pie and Aunt Babe's Chocolate Mousse.
Do Your Body Good:
I hope you and your loved ones have stayed healthy so far this season, but if you are prone to colds and the flu, you will want to read up on building immunity through your stomach. (By the way, we are big subscribers to this method!)
I really appreciated this post about the physical toll of emotions-- I have seen this for myself through my work as a massage therapist.
So, did you know that there are things you can do to actually I heal tooth decay? This is exciting!
I liked this shopping advice on saving money while eating quality food.
Food Politics:
And speaking of shopping for food, I was horrified by the thought of having butter police dictating what foods I could feed my family!
And speaking of food rights, I was really delighted to read about how a Cheerios facebook campaign completely backfired. I went ahead on over and let them know what I thought, too-- it was too much fun reading everyone's comments.
Cheer:
It warms my heart to know that there are people out there spending their time and energy inventing things like this:
Lastly, I thought you might enjoy this Christmas music playlist.
A couple of other things to mention-- I love interacting with you on Facebook. I love chatting and see you chatting with each other, too! It's been tough, though, because less and less of what I share is actually getting seen by readers, since FB wants to make me pay to promote every post. So I have also set up a Google + page where I can connect with you and other bloggers, too. I'd love to meet you over there! Also, did you know that I'm on Pinterest? I'd love to connect there, too, so add me and I'll add you back.
Coming up: In the next couple of weeks I'll be posting about my process of making elderberry wine, finding Christmas charm in a nearby village, and reviewing a workbook that I think will be relevant for many of you. One more thing... I will be sharing Daily Photos again this month-- all of the pictures I didn't get around to posting from this year-- I can already think of some from Turkey that I'm looking forward to sharing. I'll be posting extras on FB and Google+.
How was your November? Have you read anything fun or interesting this month?

Oh no! So much good looking links but there's an impatient teen aged boy breathing down my neck for the computer.
ReplyDeleteI'll be back early in the morning when there will be time to read your lovely links.
:) I remember growing up with just two computers in a house full of people (9) but that was before the internet!
