Sundays are for Sharing

Hi Everyone!  I am going to make this quick, since it's looking like we'll head to the beach for the third time in eight days.  The sunshine comes and goes, but I'm just glad it still comes around!

Food:
I am looking forward to making this watermelon gazpacho.  I made my first gazpacho of the summer this week, and I am hungry for more!

This salad from Andrea also looks really great, and even though most of our tomatoes have been grown in polytunnels, they are getting really good!

Do you like to geek out on food science?  I loved this video from a London coffee shop on using the siphon filter method for brewing coffee-- equal parts art and science...

Travel:
OK, so last night I had a very telling dream.  In it, our family came into some big money-- one million dollars!  And all I could think about for the whole dream was how many days in Greece that might buy us.  I have seen so many posts on the Greek Islands lately, and it is absolutely number one on the long list of places I'd like to go to.  Here are a few pictures from Liene's trip, and a beautiful post on a gorgeous Greek villa.  I hope that sometime in the next year, I can show you pictures of my own!

Another destination high on our list is Finland.  Jeff's grandfather's parents were immigrants from Finland, and his family continues to celebrate that part of their heritage.  We'd love to see more, and this post from Lindsey made me even more eager.

Are you an artist?  There is a hotel in Stockholm offering accommodations in exchange for artwork!  Check it out.  I think it's a really cool idea!

Local:
If you liked the photos I took looking through the Eye of London, you will probably also enjoy these: London Rooftop Views from The Travelettes.

Obviously, we are in the middle of so much Olympics excitement over here!  We stayed up really late on Friday night to watch the opening ceremonies, and it was fun to cheer for the USA, Philippines, UK, and Germany during the parade of nations.  We won't get to attend any of the events, but Laura already did-- one of the cycling races went through a nearby village!

Well, that wraps it up for today.  This week, I'll share more beach discoveries, and about a very interesting social experiment Amelia and I have been conducting during her break. (Hint, it's an American child's rite of passage.)  Have a wonderful Sunday!

Have you come across anything fun, interesting or beautiful this week that you'd like to share?

  1. With that million dollars maybe you can find a Greek island to call your very own!

    1. Now I know exactly what I'll do with my million, once it shows up!
