Happy Easter! I hope you are enjoying a special day. We are just winding down our celebrations, and I thought I would share yesterday's family outing to a local farm. We went to Alder-Carr farm, which is just half an hour away. They had a special activity trail for kids, which ended up just being a really simple quiz spaced out all over the farm, which kids had to solve to find the magic word that would let them get a treat from the farm store.
It was fun to have a goal for Amelia, while we just enjoyed a really long walk through pastures and fields, visiting all the critters that live there. Lucky us, it's lambing season, and we got to see a new mama ewe with her two little ones! Little narration is needed-- just follow the photos!
Such a beautiful property! These are Red Poll cattle, a Suffolk heritage breed.
Here's the proud mama, with her two little boys.
Awww....
The special thing about this quiz was that Amelia read all of the clues herself! It was challenging, but she worked hard and figured them out!
The trail itself was really cool-- just a beautiful walk in the woods and through pasture.
My wellies-- essential gear for a farm visit...
These sheep were stand-offish at first, but they soon figured out that we could pick out-of-reach dandelions for them!
They chased us when we started to move on-- those dandelions must have been good!
Another friendly, hungry bunch.
We'll be back here in a few months to pick berries...
She did it!

First, I love Amelia. I just love her. Second, you and Kris have both blogged about the lovely days seeing sheep with your families - I'm so jealous! Loved seeing both of your posts - and that you both have green wellies and cute little girls in purple coats. Your close ups of the sheep and the wet grass and of sweet little Amelia are lovely. Hope to have a fun outing with you girls again soon...xoxo
ReplyDeleteSarah, I will definitely go check out Kris' blog and see their day with the sheep. I hope you three get to see some little lamps soon too!
DeleteSend me a note about when would be a good weekend to get together-- we're pretty open!
Amelia is doubly blessed to have you as parents!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Dad! We like her.
DeleteI'm curios what her "farm treat" was for finding all the letters...
ReplyDeleteLiene, it was just a choice of various sweets. I would have preferred a downy little live chick, but Amelia thought it was all worth the green "lolly" she retrieved from the basket.
DeleteGreat photos Ariana. My fave is Amelia pondering Question 2...
ReplyDeleteThanks Kym! Yes, I like that one too. There was a whole lot of "pondering," and not captured were some tears of frustrations... But she kept on through them all, still excited at the end!
DeleteOh that is just so nice.. a wonderful trip
ReplyDeleteThanks Hena!
DeleteHi Ariana, thanks for your comment on my blog. I love that we've both blogged about the same thing... even down to our wellies! ha ha! (Yours are much cuter than mine, by the way!)
ReplyDeleteLovely photos!
Hi Kris-- thanks for coming over! I loved your up-close pictures of those little lambs-- so sweet! Also, much tidier than the ones we saw!
DeleteWhat a beautiful day! I especially love
ReplyDeletethe picture of Jeff & Amelia walking with their backs to you.
So sweet! The the sheep with its head through the fence!!
Yes, I still can't get used to the fact that we have such easy access to this kind of thing! And feeding the sheep never gets old...
DeleteSo pleased to have discovered your lovely blog. Beautiful photos too. Helen
ReplyDeleteWhat gorgeous photos! Looks like a great time was had by all - what a clever little girl you have! thanks for linking to Oldies but Goodies this month :)
